La parete dello Shark’s thooth
Siamo arrivati in cima allo shark’s tooth il 18 Agosto! Abbiamo aperto una nuova via al centro della parete Nord Est. Abbiamo scalato per tre giorni, scalando in arrampicata libera, a vista, su difficoltà sempre sostenute e continue. La via nuova segue un sistema di fessure al centro della parete, con qualche traverso che congiunge le varie fessure. La lunghezza della via nuova è di 900 metri, e la roccia non sempre era della migliore qualità: le lunghezze chiave hanno costretto a dei run-outs (tratti improteggibili, ndr) su lame instabili e protezioni al di sotto non buone. Comunque siamo riusciti a non usare spit nonostante lo stile, free climbing a vista, soltanto uno per uno dei bivacchi, per fissare la portaledge, e un altro per una piccola doppia. Il quarto giorno siamo scesi dalla via dei russi, per cresta e spigolo, così in sostanza la parete è rimasta pulita come prima del nostro passaggio. L’abbiamo chiamata THE GREAT SHARK HUNT, a ricordo del lungo viaggio occorso per arrivare in cima
È stata un’esperienza fantastica, in grado di farci gustare nel migliore dei modi la scalata, ma anche il gusto per l’avventura. vogliamo ringraziare tutti quelli che ci hanno aiutato e sostenuto
On august 18th we arrived on the summit of shark s tooth! We opened a new route in the very center of the north east face. The climb took three days,we climbed all the route onsight with continuous and sustained difficulties. The route follows the obvious crack sistem in the center of the wall, with some traverses for conmecting the different cracks. The overall lenght of the route is more than 900 meters, and the rock was not always of the best quality: the crux pitches offered some runouts on loose flakes and poor protections. However we were able to complete our climb without using bolts for free climbing, we put only one for hanging the portaledge and one for a short rappel which the leader free climbed. The fourth day we descended the mountain rappelling the russian route on the arete, thus our line is basically clean as we found it. It was a great team success! We named our route THE GREAT SHARK HUNT to recall the long journey which led us to this summit. Climbing, mountaineering, adventure and life can t be better than this for us. We want to thank everybody who believed and supported our project.
